As stated by US News, students in the United States are terrible at geography by no fault of their own. Almost 75% of eighth-graders tested below proficient in the 2014 National Assessment of Educational Progress. This is because many elementary and middle school teachers are forced to teach the subject along with other Social Studies subjects, such as economics, civics, and history. Geography gets the least attention out of all of these subjects, with teachers spending less than 10% of their time on it. This curriculum serves to bridge this learning gap.
